THIS ARTICLE FIRST APPEARED ON HOLLYWOOD UNLOCKED
Over a year ago, we learned that hip hop mogul, Irv “Gotti” Lorenzo, had ventured into the land of film and television with his latest project, Tales, premiering on BET via BET Networks June 27 at 8 p.m. PST.
At the DGA Theater in West Hollywood, Hollywood Unlocked exclusively attended the 8-part hip hop anthology series pre-screening of its first episode, featuring NWA‘s “Fuck The Police.”
Without giving away too much, the first episode reverses the roles of the current police brutality and Black Lives Matter state, where two Black cops are wielding the murder weapons, while a young White boy bleeds out on the ground.
Following the 2-hour screening, which doubled as Gotti’s 47th birthday celebration, music executive, Kevin Liles, joined Gotti on stage to conduct a Q&A portion of the evening.
Gotti assured his attendees, including BET executive, Debra Lee, that although he stepped away from the music for a bit, it was with good reason.
Explaining for the past six and a half years, the Queens native had been developing his latest venture for us to catch on screen entitled, Tales, which will turn classic hip hop songs, including “Fuck The Police,” Meek Mill‘s “Cold Hearted,” and more into various visual dramas.
